DC connector installation – Built right On most solar assets, the DC side is one of the biggest technical risks and loss factors. Exposed connectors, improvised cable routing and difficult inspection create failures, fire risk and unnecessary cost. Nexus Fortress is our answer to that problem.

Nexus Fortress is a modular protection and installation system for DC connectors and array wiring. It replaces loose cable ties, tape and ad-hoc brackets with a safe, structured and repeatable way of building the DC side of a solar asset.

Solar DC Connector failure rate

For too long, DC connector failures in solar PV systems have had a pronounced negative impact on efficiency, reliability, and cost. DC connector and DC cable failures have for years been among the main cost drivers in the operation of solar assets – with estimated energy losses well above 4% and by far the most common root cause behind repair tickets and site interventions. In addition, DC connector failures are a primary ignition source for fires in solar installations and a major cascade stress contributor to inverters, cables, and other connected equipment. Connector failure is not a minor nuisance – it is a critical risk that must be addressed. After thorough investigation and analysis, our conclusion is clear: The solution is not a new connector design – it is a new installation method.

  • that installations and operating conditions are controlled and installations are repeatable
  • that installation quality, connector locations and installations are accessible for inspection by personnel or drones
  • that connectors are protected in a way that meets the requirements of asset owners, installers, product standards and the actual needs for reliability.
